This is simply an outstanding and amazing museum to visit is one of the best museums in the UK on the subjects of Zoology and also Biodiversity. The Museum Galleries are held over to two floors with Galleries on Molluscs, Fish, Amphibians and Reptiles on the First Floor and a Gallery about the different types of Mammals on the ground floor. All of the Galleries are extremely informative and very interesting to see with some interesting animal skeletons to see and also some interesting animals on display in formaldehyde solution giving you an idea of how these are structured biologically and how they function biologically and physiologically. One of the stand out features of the museum is as you walk into the museum and onto the second floor towards the cafe you can see the awesome sight of a skeletal structure of a large Fin Back Whale, which is just simply awe inspiring and you can admire the sheer size of the these wonderful creatures and how they structured and function as a mammal. One of the best displays on the ground floor is the five skeletons in the Primate Sections showing the skeleton of the early cavemen who came from Primates through to the modern Human, which is amazing as you can get a clear idea of the evolution of Humans over thousands of years from Primates and how long that transition and evolution has taken place. The ground floor also shows some fantastic skeletons of Lion's, Elephants and Hippopotamus along with Deer, which are awesome to see and are in brilliant condition and are beautifully displayed. The stand out features are the displays of the Butterflies and Beetles as the colours are exquisite and magnificent to see along with being dazzling in a good way and there is also a great skeletal structure of a Leatherback Turtle to see and give you an idea of how these beautiful and wonderful creatures function and are structured. All the displays of the animal detail informatively the biological history of the animals and how they live in the wild, which is very enlightening and insightful. There is a cafe on the second floor selling a lovely range of food and drink at reasonable prices and there is a gift shop selling a great range of gifts and souvenirs at reasonable prices. Overall this is a fabulous, fantastic and amazing place to visit, which makes for a very enjoyable, enthralling and interesting day out. Definitely well worth a visit whilst in Cambridge.

Thoroughly enjoyable visit. Upstairs was fascinating, the cafe was very reasonably priced with a good selection of healthy cooked food. Downstairs was not as good; the taxidermy animals were awful and some of them are quite scary! The lighting of the skeletons downstairs should be better too.

The University Museum of Zoology offers a fascinating exhibition that highlights the complex relationship humans have with animals, showing how some creatures are considered more valuable when dead than alive. However, the attitude of the permanent staff was disappointing...rude and lacking patience. On the other hand, the volunteers downstairs were a pleasant contrast, sharing their wealth of knowledge with genuine passion for animals. Their enthusiasm and interesting facts really made the visit enjoyable.
